Turning PDF pages into slides
To convert a PDF to PowerPoint, drop the PDF on this page and press Convert to PPTX. Each page becomes one slide, and its words come back as text you can edit, not as a flat picture. It is the usual way back when a presentation only survives as a PDF and you need it as slides again, to change or to present.
Going from PDF to slides does not need a PDF that started as a deck: a report or a handout converts the same way. The slides take the size of the first page. A page of another size or shape is shrunk to fit and centred, with its text scaled to match, so an A4 page in a landscape deck comes out small.
Starting from something other than a PDF? Convert Word to PowerPoint for a .docx or .doc, or convert HTML to PowerPoint for an .html file; a plain .txt file has a Text to PowerPoint page of its own.

A page, frozen. Looks identical everywhere, resists editing everywhere.
Modern PowerPoint. Slides, notes, and one animation someone regrets.
A PDF is a frozen page, so the file is rebuilt, not copied. Expect the odd margin, font or line break to move.
Good to know about converting PDF to PPTX
- Each page becomes one slide, scaled to fit, even when the pages are different sizes.
- Every line of text becomes its own text box at its original position, keeping its size, bold, italic and colour. Fonts are matched to common ones: Helvetica becomes Arial and Times becomes Times New Roman.
- A page with no text, such as a photo or a chart, becomes a full-page picture, so nothing is lost.
- The words on scanned pages are read first, in English, so they come out as text you can edit. Up to 2,000 pages.
- To send the PDF itself rather than slides, make it smaller with the PDF size reducer: every page, text and font stays.
Editing the slides afterwards
The slides are rebuilt from what is on each page, so it helps to know what became what before you start editing:
- Text: one box per line, at its place on the page, with its size, bold, italic and colour. The font is matched to a common one: in our test Helvetica came back as Arial and Times as Times New Roman.
- Photos, logos, shapes and backgrounds: pictures behind the text, where they were on the page.
- Charts: a picture of the chart, with its labels as text boxes. The bars and lines cannot be edited as a PowerPoint chart.
- Tables: the grid is a picture and the cell text sits on it in boxes, so it is not a PowerPoint table.
Changing words, colours or the order of the slides is quick. Rewriting a paragraph takes longer, since each of its lines is a separate box. When the deck is ready to send, convert PowerPoint to PDF again, or save the text alone with convert PDF to Word if you need a document rather than slides.
PPTX or the older PPT
This PDF to PPT converter makes both versions. PPTX is the format of PowerPoint 2007 and later, and the version choice on the page says to pick PPT only for software from before 2007. To convert a PDF to PPT, the PPTX is built first and then saved again in the old format, so the slides, text boxes and pictures are the same, and both are graded Very good. Our guide to PPT vs PPTX covers which one to send.
| PPTX | PPT | |
|---|---|---|
| Made for | PowerPoint 2007 and later | Software from before 2007 |
| Page limit | Up to 2,000 | Up to 416 |
| File size in our test | 98 KB | 615 KB |
A PDF over the PPT limit is refused before it converts, and the message points you to PPTX. If you already have the deck as a PPTX, convert PPTX to PPT directly rather than going through the PDF.
Questions people ask
How do I convert a PDF to PowerPoint?
Select or drop your PDF on this page; nothing uploads until you press convert. Keep PPTX as the version, or pick PPT for software from before 2007, then press Convert to PPTX (or Convert to PPT) and download the deck. Each page becomes one slide with text you can edit.
Does PDF to PowerPoint work on scanned PDFs?
Yes. A scanned page has no text to copy, so its English words are read first and each line becomes a text box you can edit. Check the result: in our test the text came back in Courier New, a 1 was read as a vertical bar, and the scan stayed on the slide as a picture under the new text, so each line showed twice. Deleting that picture leaves only the editable text.
How many pages can I convert to PowerPoint?
The page limit is 2,000 for PPTX and 416 for the older PPT. A PDF over the PPT limit is refused before it converts, with a message pointing you to PPTX. The file size limit applies too: 25 MB on the free plan, 100 MB on Pro and Business.
What happens to charts and photos in my PDF?
They come through as pictures in the same places, with the text on top in boxes you can edit. A chart becomes a picture of the chart: its labels can be changed, its bars and lines cannot. A page with no text at all becomes one picture.
Can I open the slides in Google Slides?
Yes. In our test, a two-page PDF converted to PPTX here opened in Google Slides from Google Drive, which kept it as a .pptx file. Both slides opened in order, the text kept its fonts and its places, the photo sat where it should, and the text could be edited. One line of table text broke onto two lines in Google Slides, so check tables after opening.
Can I edit the text on the slides?
Yes. Every line is a real text box. Because each line is its own box, rewriting a whole paragraph means editing a few boxes; changing words, colours and slide order is quick.
Is converting PDF to PowerPoint free?
Yes. Up to 25 MB and three conversions a day are free, with no account. Pro and Business lift the file limit to 100 MB and remove the daily cap.
What happens to my files?
Both your PDF and the PowerPoint we produce are deleted 24 hours after each conversion, automatically. Try again and Continue to another tool start a new conversion, with its own 24 hours. Nothing is used for training and no human looks at your documents.
Will the PowerPoint look exactly like the PDF?
This pair grades as “Very good”. We show the exact route and that grade before you convert, so there are no surprises about what survives the trip.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Nothing to install. Pick or drop a file here, it's converted on our servers, and you download the result.
How large can my file be?
25 MB on the free plan, and 100 MB on Pro and Business.
Can I convert several files at once?
On Pro and Business, yes: add up to 100 files before converting. The free plan converts one file at a time.
