Convert Excel to PDF, every sheet in order
Send a workbook nobody can accidentally retype, every visible sheet in order.
or drop your Excel file anywhere on this page
Takes XLSX and XLS files · XLSX → PDF
Why send a spreadsheet as a PDF
To convert Excel to PDF, press Select Excel file and pick your .xlsx or .xls workbook, then press Convert to PDF and download the result. Every sheet that is not hidden prints, in the order of its tabs, and the PDF keeps your file's name, so budget.xlsx comes back as budget.pdf.
A PDF looks the same on every screen and printer, and nobody can change a figure by accident. That suits invoices, reports, price lists and timesheets: anything you send to be read, approved or filed rather than edited. The person you send it to does not need Excel to open it.
Starting from an export instead of a workbook? Convert CSV to PDF lays a CSV out as a plain table, or convert CSV to Excel to format it first.

Modern Excel. Rows, columns and formulas, often across several sheets.
A page, frozen. Looks identical everywhere, resists editing everywhere.
Every sheet that is not hidden prints, at the page size and scaling set in the workbook. Columns that do not fit a page continue on the next one, and Calibri is drawn in a stand-in of the same width.
Good to know about converting XLSX to PDF
- Every sheet that is not hidden prints, in tab order, each from a new page. A hidden sheet is left out, and an empty one adds no page.
- The page setup saved in the workbook is used: paper size, orientation and fit to page width. With none, pages are A4 portrait at full size, and columns that do not fit continue on further pages.
- Formulas print their results, in each cell's own number format, and the text stays text you can search and copy.
- A chart that crosses the edge of a page is split across two pages. Move or resize it in Excel to keep it whole.
- Calibri, Excel's usual font, is drawn in Carlito, which has the same letter widths, so the columns take the same room.
Formatting, charts and text in the PDF
We converted test workbooks, some saved by Excel itself, and checked every page of every PDF. Besides the sheets and the page setup, listed under Good to know above, this came through:
- Bold, fill colours, borders, merged cells and wrapped text, where they were on the sheet.
- Numbers as Excel shows them: thousands separators, percentages and dates in the cell's own format.
- Charts, drawn on the page with the cells around them.
- Your words as real text, so you can search the PDF and copy from it. Accents, Greek, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean all printed.
Wide sheets and page setup
The PDF follows the page setup saved in your workbook: paper size, portrait or landscape, and scaling. In our test, a sheet set to US Letter, landscape and one page wide came back as exactly that, on one page.
With no page setup saved, pages are A4, upright and at full size. Columns that do not fit continue on further pages, which run down the sheet first and then across: a sheet of 30 columns and 60 rows became a 10-page PDF, each page up to 7 columns wide.
Saving as PDF from Excel itself
If Excel is on your computer, it can save a PDF too: choose File, then Save As or Save a Copy, and pick PDF as the file type. By default Excel saves only the sheets you have selected, so press Options and choose Entire workbook if you want them all.
This Excel to PDF converter is for when Excel is not to hand, such as on a borrowed or work computer, or for a workbook someone sent you. It prints every visible sheet with no extra step, and three conversions a day are free with no account.
Other office files have their own routes: convert Word to PDF for a document, and PowerPoint to PDF for a deck. A workbook with many photos or logos can make a large PDF, and Compress PDF can make it smaller afterwards.
Questions people ask
How do I convert Excel to PDF?
Press Select Excel file and pick your .xlsx or .xls, or drop it on the page, then press Convert to PDF and download the PDF. The free plan converts three files a day, one at a time, up to 25 MB each, with no account. Both files are deleted from our server after 24 hours.
Are all the sheets in my workbook included?
Every sheet that is not hidden is, in the order of its tabs, each starting on a new page. To leave a sheet out, hide it in Excel before you convert. To include a hidden sheet, unhide it first.
Can I convert an old .xls file?
Yes. A workbook from Excel 97 to 2003 converts as it is, with nothing to resave first. In our test, an .xls gave the same pages as the .xlsx it was saved from.
Can I convert a password-protected workbook?
No. A workbook that needs a password to open cannot be read, so the conversion fails. Open it in Excel, remove the password, save a copy and convert that.
Why did my very large workbook fail?
It was too big for our server to lay out as pages. In our test, a 23 MB workbook of 350,000 rows failed, while our other test workbooks converted in seconds. Split a sheet that size into smaller workbooks before you convert.
Will a wide sheet fit on one page?
Only if the workbook is set to fit. The scaling saved in the file is used, so a sheet set to fit one page wide comes out one page wide. With no scaling set, it prints at full size and the columns that do not fit continue on further pages.
Is converting Excel to PDF free?
Yes. Up to 25 MB and three conversions a day are free, with no account. Pro and Business lift the file limit to 100 MB and remove the daily cap.
What happens to my files?
Both your Excel and the PDF we produce are deleted 24 hours after each conversion, automatically. Try again and Continue to another tool start a new conversion, with its own 24 hours. Nothing is used for training and no human looks at your documents.
Will the PDF look exactly like the Excel?
This pair grades as “Very good”. We show the exact route and that grade before you convert, so there are no surprises about what survives the trip.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Nothing to install. Pick or drop a file here, it's converted on our servers, and you download the result.
How large can my file be?
25 MB on the free plan, and 100 MB on Pro and Business.
Can I convert several files at once?
On Pro and Business, yes: add up to 100 files before converting. The free plan converts one file at a time.
