What an HTML to JPEG conversion gives you
To convert HTML to JPEG, select or drop your .html or .htm file on the tool above, choose a Resolution and an Image quality, and press Convert to JPEG. Your file is laid out on A4 pages, the way it would print, and each page becomes a JPG picture. A short file gives one JPG named after it; a longer one gives a ZIP of numbered pages.
JPG and JPEG are two names for one format, so an HTML to JPG converter and an HTML to JPEG converter make the same file. This one needs the file itself: a page saved from your browser, an export or an email template. It cannot take a web address. For a live page, use Print in your browser and choose Save as PDF, then convert PDF to JPG.
Resolution sets the pixels on each page: an A4 page came out at 794 × 1123 pixels at 96 DPI, 1241 × 1754 at 150 DPI (the default) and 2481 × 3508 at 300 DPI. Image quality sets how hard the JPG is compressed. A full A4 page of small print, at 150 DPI, came out at 297 KB on Smaller, 397 KB on Balanced (the default) and 654 KB on Best.

A document as markup. Opens in a browser, edits in anything.
Photographs, compressed. Small files, no transparency, slight fuzz.
Each page is laid out as a word processor would print it, then drawn as a picture: side-by-side boxes stack, hidden parts show, web fonts become a standard font and scripts do not run. JPEG compresses the picture, so fine detail is lost.
Good to know about converting HTML to JPEG
- The file is laid out on A4 pages, and every page becomes its own JPG. More than one page gives a ZIP named after your file, in order: article.html gives article-p001.jpg, article-p002.jpg and so on.
- Images embedded in the file are kept. Images it links to, on another web address or as a separate file, are left out. JavaScript does not run.
- Image quality is Smaller, Balanced or Best. At the default 150 DPI each page is 1241 × 1754 pixels.
- Up to 100 pages at a time.
What carries over from your HTML
Your HTML is laid out the way a word processor prints it, not the way a browser draws it on screen. We converted test files to see what survives:
- Text, colours and font sizes come through, and table cells stay side by side.
- Flexbox is not applied, so boxes meant to sit next to each other come out stacked. Use a table for columns.
- Pictures written into the file as data URIs are kept. A picture saved beside the .html is not uploaded with it and leaves a blank space, and one linked from another web address is left out too, so embed every picture you need.
- JavaScript does not run, so anything a script would add to the page is missing.
- Content hidden with display: none still shows, so delete menus and cookie notices first.
- A CSS page break starts a new page, and so a new JPG. Put page-break-before: always in a heading's style attribute: in our tests the same rule on a div, set through a class, was ignored.
- To change the page with a CSS @page rule, give the margin a unit: margin: 0mm removes it, but margin: 0 with no unit was ignored and the 2 cm margin stayed.
JPEG or PNG for a page of text
JPEG suits pages with photos. A page filled with a detailed picture came out at 361 KB as a Balanced JPG and 2,361 KB as a PNG.
For pages that are mostly text or diagrams, PNG keeps the edges of letters and lines sharp, and its file is not always bigger. A page packed with small print was 397 KB as a JPG and 536 KB as a PNG, while a page of a few short lines came out a little smaller as a PNG. To get PNG pictures from the same file, convert HTML to PNG. The guide on choosing between JPG and PNG explains the difference. For a page of only text and flat colour, convert HTML to GIF: our receipt page came out at 49 KB as a GIF, against 95 KB as a Balanced JPG.
Other documents become pictures the same way: convert Word to JPG for a .docx, and convert text to JPG for a plain .txt file. To go the other way, convert JPG to HTML reads the words in a picture back into a web page file; in our test the text came back without its colours or pictures.
Questions people ask
How do I convert HTML to JPG?
Select or drop your .html or .htm file on this page; nothing uploads until you press convert. Keep 150 DPI and Balanced or change them, press Convert to JPEG, and download one JPG, or a ZIP with a JPG for each page. Three conversions a day up to 25 MB are free, with no account.
Is HTML to JPEG different from HTML to JPG?
No. JPG and JPEG are two names for the same format, and both .jpg and .jpeg files open in the same apps. The pictures this page makes are saved as .jpg.
Can I convert a live website instead of a file?
No. This page converts an .html file you upload; it cannot take a web address. In your browser, use Print and choose Save as PDF, then convert that PDF to JPG, which turns every page into a picture at 96, 150 or 300 DPI.
Will my CSS layout look the same in the JPG?
Not always. Colours, font sizes and tables come through, but flexbox is not applied, so side-by-side boxes stack, and JavaScript does not run. The page is laid out as it would print on A4, with a white margin round it.
What size will the JPG be?
At the default 150 DPI each A4 page is 1241 × 1754 pixels. Choose 300 DPI for 2481 × 3508, or 96 DPI for 794 × 1123. If the HTML sets its own page size with a CSS @page rule, that size is used: 8.5in by 11in gave 1275 × 1650 at 150 DPI.
My HTML page is long. Do I get every page?
Yes. It is laid out on A4 pages and each one becomes a JPG, in a ZIP named after your file and numbered in order. Up to 100 pages.
Is converting HTML to JPG free?
Yes. Up to 25 MB and three conversions a day are free, with no account. Pro and Business lift the file limit to 100 MB and remove the daily cap.
What happens to my files?
Both your HTML and the JPG we produce are deleted 24 hours after each conversion, automatically. Try again and Continue to another tool start a new conversion, with its own 24 hours. Nothing is used for training and no human looks at your documents.
Will the JPG look exactly like the HTML?
This pair grades as “Good enough”. We show the exact route and that grade before you convert, so there are no surprises about what survives the trip.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Nothing to install. Pick or drop a file here, it's converted on our servers, and you download the result.
How large can my file be?
25 MB on the free plan, and 100 MB on Pro and Business.
Can I convert several files at once?
On Pro and Business, yes: add up to 100 files before converting. The free plan converts one file at a time.
