Takes PPTX and PPT files · PPTX → PDF → PNG

A sharp PNG of each slide

To convert PPT to PNG, press Select PowerPoint file (or drop a .pptx or .ppt on the tool above), pick a Resolution and press Convert to PNG. Everything your audience would see is saved as PNG images. A file with one slide downloads as a single PNG with the same name, cover.pptx as cover.png. Anything longer downloads as a ZIP named after your file, with the images numbered in order: roadmap.zip held roadmap-p001.png, roadmap-p002.png and onwards.

People save PowerPoint as PNG when a slide has to sit inside something else: a wiki page, a report, a help article or a design file. PNG is lossless, which means every pixel is kept exactly as it was drawn. Small labels, thin lines and flat colour keep clean edges, without the faint blur a JPG adds around them, so PPTX to PNG is the route for text, charts and diagrams.

  • Anything hidden is skipped: our test file had five slides, one of them hidden, and gave four PNGs.
  • Speaker notes are left out, so each image shows what the audience sees, edge to edge.
  • There is no transparency. Where no background colour is set, the image is white, and a coloured background fills the whole picture.
  • An older .ppt file works as it is, with no resaving: a .ppt copy of our test file gave the same four PNGs.

The page shows the route as two steps, PPTX to PDF and PDF to PNG, graded Picture-perfect. Your presentation is first laid out as a PDF, one page per slide, and each page is then drawn at the resolution you chose. The images look right down to the pixel, but their words are pixels too.

What you are starting with

Modern PowerPoint. Slides, notes, and one animation someone regrets.

What you are getting

Lossless pixels on a solid page, so text and lines stay crisp. No see-through background.

Worth knowing

The result looks right down to the pixel, but text stops being text and drawings stop being vectors.

Picking a resolution

Resolution, in dots per inch (DPI), sets how many pixels each image gets: 96, 150 or 300 DPI, with 150 as the default. A widescreen (16:9) slide comes out 1281 × 720 pixels at 96 DPI, 2001 × 1125 at 150 and 4001 × 2250 at 300. At 150 DPI an older 4:3 one is 1500 × 1125, and a square one 1125 × 1125.

96 DPI20 KB35 KB1,210 KB
150 DPI (default)26 KB59 KB2,574 KB
300 DPI68 KB119 KB6,388 KB
  • 96 DPI suits images seen on a screen at their normal size, such as in a wiki page or a chat.
  • 150 DPI suits reports, help articles and design files, with room to zoom in a little.
  • 300 DPI is for printing, or for a chart with small labels that people will zoom into.

Text and shapes stay small at every setting, because PNG stores flat colour compactly. A photo does not: ours passed 6 MB at 300 DPI. For a presentation that is mostly photos, convert PowerPoint to JPG instead, which made the same picture 914 KB at 300 DPI.

Before you convert your presentation

  • Shape: each PNG takes the slide's own shape, so set the slide size in PowerPoint first. Our square test came out 1125 × 1125 pixels at 150 DPI, ready for a square social post.
  • Fonts: our server has no Microsoft fonts, so look-alikes stand in and a line break can move. Check any place where text already filled its box.
  • Length: up to 100 slides in one file. Our 100-slide test gave a ZIP of 100 PNGs, and at 101 the file was stopped before converting, with a message giving its page count.

Other documents become PNG images the same way: convert Word to PNG for a .docx or .doc, or convert HTML to PNG for a saved web page. Going the other way, convert PNG to PowerPoint to turn a picture back into a slide.

Questions people ask

How do I convert a PPTX to PNG?

Press Select PowerPoint file, or drop a .pptx or .ppt on this page. Keep 150 DPI under Resolution in the sidebar, or pick 96 or 300 DPI, then press Convert to PNG. You get a single PNG when the file has one slide, or a ZIP with one PNG per slide.

Will each slide become its own PNG?

Yes, one PNG for every visible slide, in order. Several come as one ZIP named after your file, and the images inside carry a three-digit number (roadmap-p001.png, roadmap-p002.png), so they sort correctly in any folder.

Can a slide PNG have a transparent background?

No. The PNGs are saved without transparency: in our tests a background with no fill came out white, and a navy background stayed navy. To place a chart or diagram on another colour, remove the white background from the PNG afterwards. That tool clears the white from the edges inwards and keeps any white inside the shapes.

Is PNG or JPG better for my slides?

PNG for text, charts and diagrams: the edges stay clean, and the file is often smaller. At 300 DPI our bar chart was 119 KB as a PNG and 271 KB as a JPG. JPG for photos, where a PNG grows large: our photo was 6,388 KB as a PNG and 914 KB as a JPG.

Can I select the text in the PNG afterwards?

No. Each image is pixels only, so its words cannot be selected, searched or edited. To work with the words, convert PowerPoint to Word for an editable document, or use PowerPoint to Text for the words alone. To fix a typo, change the presentation and convert it again.

Is converting PowerPoint to PNG free?

Yes. Up to 25 MB and three conversions a day are free, with no account. Pro and Business lift the file limit to 100 MB and remove the daily cap.

What happens to my files?

Both your PowerPoint and the PNG we produce are deleted 24 hours after each conversion, automatically. Try again and Continue to another tool start a new conversion, with its own 24 hours. Nothing is used for training and no human looks at your documents.

Will the PNG look exactly like the PowerPoint?

This pair grades as “Picture-perfect”. We show the exact route and that grade before you convert, so there are no surprises about what survives the trip.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Nothing to install. Pick or drop a file here, it's converted on our servers, and you download the result.

How large can my file be?

25 MB on the free plan, and 100 MB on Pro and Business.

Can I convert several files at once?

On Pro and Business, yes: add up to 100 files before converting. The free plan converts one file at a time.
